The story of the triumphant entry of Jesus is found in all four gospels. These gospels are written from 4 different perspectives. And it is interesting that all the gospel writers spell out the one truth that sets us free. We could look at any of the 4 gospels to understand the story, Matthew 21; Mark 11; Luke 19; John 12.

One day Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem with his disciples. Jesus asked his disciples to get him a young donkey from the town. The disciples found the exact donkey that Jesus was looking for and placed their coats on the donkey for Jesus to sit on it.

Jesus rode the donkey accompanied by his followers into Jerusalem. A very large crowd of people began to follow. There were grandmothers, grandfathers, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers who all wanted to see Jesus entering Jerusalem.

They were so excited to see Jesus because Jesus was like a superhero. He had fed 1000s of people, he had healed many people who were blind, sick, etc. He was someone that some people had only heard about and had never seen in their lives.

All the people walked with Jesus spreading their coats on the road. Many people cut palm leaves and placed it on the road with all their coats. They began shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David!”. As Jesus approached the temple everyone was praising the name of Jesus.

And so, Jesus entered Jerusalem, triumphantly! Just as God had said many years before (Zech 9:9)
