Bible passage: Revelations 20:11-15 ; Revelations 21:27

In Rev 21:27, we read of Heaven the dwelling place of God, an eternal place without sorrow, pain or tears and it makes us want to go there.

Rev 20: 11-15 talks about the Great White throne and people being judged according to what they had done while they were on earth.

In what context have you heard the word, Judgment ?

We may have watched a game where some wrong judgment was given by the Umpire and we think –“Oh, but for that, India could have won the game.” Man definitely makes errors in judgment sometimes, but never God.

Rev 20: 15; How does a man come to this position of being cast into the lake of fire for the deeds he has done? Can it be avoided?

Now turn your Bibles to Genesis chapter 2 and 3.

Adam and Eve were enjoying a wonderful relationship and fellowship with God, and there was no barrier between man and a holy God. But when they disobeyed God, sin brought separation between man and God.

When we think of the word SIN, we don’t think it applies to us, right?

But the Bible says, that ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
(Romans 3:23)

Let us see what is the problem of sin:

1. Sin Deceives Us - 1 John 1: 8, “if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves.”

2. Sin Defeats Us - Romans 7:15 – “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do, but what I hate I do.”

3.Sin Leads to Death – Romans 6:23 – The wages of sin is death. We are not just talking of physical death which we will all face one day, but rather the eternal separation from God for eternity.

Man has tried many ways to please God through works, sacrifices, charity, etc. None of these have taken away sin and restored man’s broken relationship with God. A simple sorry does not take away the guilt that sin etches on our hearts.

So, what is the solution to sin ?

Sinful man needs a mediator who will restore the relationship with a holy God bringing permanent reconciliation. When Jesus became our sin bearer and bore the wrath and judgement of God in our place, He experienced the eternal separation that sin brought on mankind with a Holy God.

We see the amazing love of God towards undeserving sinners through the death of Christ.

The right response to God’s forgiveness and grace

Will you spend some time in prayer reflecting on your life?

Are you living in rebellion, wanting to live life contrary to God’s ways?

Are you living a defeated life frustrated by your futile efforts to please God?

Conclusion:

It’s time to turn your eyes upon Jesus.

Come to Him in humility and brokenness, asking for His forgiveness.

He is willing to forgive you and help you live a life of victory.

Then, we can be truly fearless of Judgment.
